Take a Hike Through a Rare “Old-Growth” Forest

Hemlock Overlook Regional Park is located near Bull Run just outside the historic town of Clifton. The park has recently been added to the National Old-Growth Forest Network. This type of forest has its own unique ecology and beauty. Less than 1% of forest in the East are designated as “old-growth.” Our hike will take us through this rare forest and allow us to view some of the oldest trees in the country!

Hike Details. This hike is rated moderate. The distance is 3.0 miles with 300 feet of elevation. Dogs are permitted on this trail.

Fees. There is no fee for this park.

Parking. While there is a parking lot that can accommodate plenty of cars, this is a very popular hike and is located across the street from a winery. Please consider sharing a ride with another hiker. You can indicate your carpooling interest on the registration form below.

Post Hike. This hike is located across the street from Paradise Springs Winery. Enjoy a glass of wine or food before heading home. The historic town of Clifton is also just minutes away from the trailhead. Enjoy dinner at Trattoria Villagio or Trummer’s. Grab an ice cream from Peterson’s (voted best ice cream in NOVA).

As a reminder, this hike is part of our partnership with Pass to Pass and Inova Parkinson's and Movement Disorders Center, but all are welcome to join us. Because of their generous support, there is no fee to join any of our hikes.

If you are interested in being a support hiker for this trip, or any of our hikes, please email Michelle at Michelle@AIMHumanPerformance.com
