Women's Self Defense

This class is co-taught by husband and wife team Chris & Michelle Viggiano who have been arming women with techniques to protect themselves throughout Northern Virginia for the past 13 years. Topics covered include:

  • Situational Awareness

  • Escaping various grabs, chokes, and hair pulling

  • Proper execution of various strikes

  • Knife Defense

  • Car & Home Defense Strategies

  • Multiple Attackers

  • Gun Defense and Active Shooter Situations

Two formats of this class are offered: a one hour introductory class and a 4 week course.  Participants who attend the 4 week course in its entirety are invited to participate in any future classes for free to review and practice the skills learned.  Click on the link to see when the next class is offered.  

Boxing & Strength Training for Parkinson's

This 45 minute boxing class is designed to improve coordination and balance, while also building strength and cardiovascular endurance. Workouts involve punching sequences, footwork drills, core exercises, and head movements to improve weight shifting.  Through learning various movement drills, students improve hand eye coordination and challenge memory. This non-contact class requires no previous boxing experience. Gloves are provided, but students are encouraged to bring their own.

Thanks to the generous support of the Inova Parkinson’s and Movement Disorders Center, these classes are now FREE for students! Students must first complete an Introductory session with the instructor prior to attending class. Please call to set up this appointment.

Beginner Level Class: Mondays, 1pm-1:45pm

Intermediate Level Class: Tuesdays, 1pm-1:45pm

Advanced Level Class: Thursdays, 1pm-1:45pm

Eat Well, Live Well Book Club

This is more than just a book club - this is a club that inspires you to be the best you - by learning from the book we read and encouraging our members to incorporate change and new behaviors into their everyday life.

In partnership with our nutrition coach, Sabina, AIM will be hosting a book club that focuses on reading, discussing, and implementing healthy nutrition, exercise, and wellness practices. This group will meet every other month at AIM and via Zoom. This book club is open to anyone who is interested in reading and discussing healthy habits.
