8 Week Strength Training for Runners Program

Description: An 8 week, off season, strength training program specifically tailored for runners. This program is designed to strengthen the muscles needed during running prior to the start of the spring running season.

In partnership with Select Physical Therapy of Woodbridge, participants will receive a pre- and post test using FUSIONETICS; a comprehensive digital assessment tool used to discover potential injuries and ares of weakness that will be addressed during the 8 week program.  This is the same tool that's used by the NBA, NFL, MLB, NHL, MLS, and the NCAA to test their athletes for potential injuries.  A post test will be performed at the end of the 8 week period to measure progress.

Runner will then meet with a trainer one or two times per week for 8 weeks.  Muscle Activation Technique™ will be used to assess and identify muscle weakness, tightness, and imbalances prior to every workout. Our staff will then create a customized strength training program, tailored to the individual runner, in order to strengthen weak muscles, correct muscle imbalances, and prepare the body for running.  Areas that will be focused on will be low back, “core,” glutes, quads, hip flexors, hamstrings, lower leg, feet, and toes. Special attention will be paid on balancing strength training days, running workouts, and adequate time for recovery and physiological adaptation.

Goals:

  • Begin the spring running season stronger
  • Run faster and longer than previous race performances
  • Decrease the likelihood of becoming injured during the season and help to reduce the severity of injury if it does occur

Details:

  • FUSIONETICS Pre-test date: Saturday, February 10.
  • Program runs: February 10 through April 6
  • FUSIONETICS Post-test date: Saturday, April 7th.
  • Price for one session per week is $75/session or $600 total. Can be paid in two installments of $300 paid on the first session and the 4th session.  Can also be paid in three installments of $200 paid on the first, third, and sixth sessions.
  • Price for two sessions per week is $70/session.  Can be paid in three or four installments.
  • Price for three sessions per week is $65/session.  Can be paid in three or four installments.
  • Program only runs 8 weeks so if a session is missed, it must be made up before the end of the 8 week period or the session will be forfeited.
  • Appointments are scheduled Monday through Friday 6am to 7pm, Saturdays 7am to 4pm

Essential Oils for Immunity

Essential Oils for Immunity

Join us for the next Community Wellness Seminar as we learn about Essential Oils.  Essential Oils are often referenced in the news but do you know what they are and how they work?  This workshop will teach you what essential oils are, where they come from, and how they can be used. This is not a sales pitch presentation! The goal of this workshop is to give you an understanding of essential oils and how they can be used to help fight off the common winter colds and flu.

Free refreshments will be provided and there will be a raffle to win free essential oils.  If you bring a friend with you to this workshop, you'll receive an extra raffle ticket.

This workshop is given by Valerie Morgan of Burke, VA.  Valerie is a former registered nurse and a licensed massage therapist with over 40 years of extensive experience working on a host of health, nutrition, and wellness therapies for her clients. She has also trained to become a holistic health coach with the world-renowned Institute for Integrative Nutrition in New York City. More recently, her focus and training have been directed toward the medicinal properties of essential oils. Valerie believes proper application of essential oils, which have been used widely for centuries in Europe and Asia by many medical professionals, can be a key component in helping clients attain the wellness goals they want to achieve.  She is also a second-degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do and practices yoga daily.

This workshop, like all in the Community Wellness Seminar Series, is free and open to everyone.  To attend this workshop, please email to reserve your spot at Info@AIMHumanPerformance.com or call at (571) 398-6923. Contact us with any questions.
